Fixated: Mike Singe
For Fixated, Mike Singe presents recent works from an ongoing series of environmentally dubious carbon capture and storage drawings.
By applying soot onto the drawing surface, capturing carbon that would otherwise combine with oxygen in the combustion process to form carbon dioxide, Singe queries the efficacy of industrial carbon fixation by linking it to an impotent attempt to offset the environmental impact of his art practice.
With the omnipresent climate crisis as context for this exhibition, Singe ponders the dark and sometimes humorous side of natural selection, car air fresheners, bonsai bondage, inflatable nesting habitats and de-evolution.
