Clarence City Council is thrilled to announce that the 2025 Clarence Jazz Festival Scholarship Expressions of Interest are now open.
This prestigious scholarship, now in its 15th year, offers three emerging jazz musicians (between the ages of 15-21) a highly valuable career-boosting opportunity including 6 months of skills development, professional network building and live performances with some of the country’s finest jazz educators and musicians.

Clarence Jazz Festival, now in it’s 29th year, is Lutruwita’s (Tasmania) largest and longest running jazz festival. We are strongly committed to showcasing the best musical talent the country has to offer, with a strong focus on the wonderful diversity within our community. Use this form if you are a musician or ensemble interested in performing at the 2025 Clarence Jazz Festival. The Festival will be held from the 19th-23rd February at various locations around the beautiful City of Clarence in Southern Lutruwita (Tasmania).
This year, we have 4 application streams for you to choose from. You can apply for more than one stream: General Program, Emerging Program, Hothouse, and a new category for School groups and community bands.

Clarence City Council is calling all young artists who are Secondary School or College aged to create an engaging artwork that responds to the theme of homelessness, this National Homelessness Week.
The winning artist will be announced at Clarence City Council’s Off the Couch event on 7 August 2024 at Rosny Skate Park, and will receive a $500 Artery Gift certificate as a prize.
Artworks in the following visual art mediums are welcome:
Painting, drawing, printmaking, digital art, illustration, textiles, or mixed media.
The winning artist will be supported to translate their artwork to a format for use on the promotional material for the ‘Off the Couch’ event in 2025. This would include web presence, printed material such as posters and signage around the community, and a banner that will be on display at the event.

Our favourite show of the year is back and calling for entries! The Poochibald is an opportunity to show your appreciation and admiration for dogs. Whether they are big or small, scruffy or tidy, if they take you for a walk ’round the block rather than the other way around – we just can’t seem to stop loving them.
Now in its 12th year, our annual Poochibald exhibition is a beloved community show not to be missed.
Anyone can submit a painting, drawing, print, or small sculpture and be in the running to win.
Be inspired by dogs of all kinds – celebrity dogs, childhood pals or that trusty chonk keeping your toes warm on the couch right now. What says I love you more than an award winning portrait? (…maybe some liver treats…) Go on then! What are you waiting for!?
Featuring both an adult and two junior sections, there are great prizes.
The exhibition runs from 27 September – 20 October 11am – 5pm Wed – Sun.
Entries close Sunday 15 September.
Winners will be announced at the exhibition opening on Thursday 26 September at 5.30pm at the Schoolhouse Gallery. All welcome
Prizes are:
Adult 1st prize $300 voucher, runner up $150 voucher
Children – Junior (up to 12yrs) 1st prize $100 voucher, runner up $50 voucher
Children – Senior (12 – 16 yrs) 1st prize $100 voucher, runner up $50 voucher
Please note, photographs will not be accepted. All artworks must feature dogs.
