Public Program

Collaborative darkroom experience with Simone Darcy

Rosny Farm Arts Centre

11am - 12pm and 1-2pm, 13 - 28 Mar 2024

Tickets Free

Photo-based artist Simone Darcy will set up a working darkroom and installation within the Schoolhouse for her month-long residency stay at Rosny Farm. Simone will work within the fully operational photography darkroom space for a number of days each week allowing the public to participate in making body photograms. These collaborative prints will then be shown in the connecting gallery space during the exhibition.

This is a unique opportunity for our gallery audience to participate in a collaborative artwork with an established artist who has a distinct and experienced skillset working with camera-less image making and darkroom processes. This project will embrace the style of the early Dada artists in producing spontaneous emissions of the self; Dark Brew will focus on the constructed momentary experience and posture absurd. Combining a fascination with art, science, and history Simone will use experimental photographic processes to create works that directly respond to the physical and psychological body.

Places are very limited and all materials are provided.

There is no fee to participate. Only one person per booking please.

Update: we have 2 spots available, on the 20th and 28th March. Please contact the gallery to book.
