Beaker Street Festival and the City of Clarence present: Hobartica East

Science. Art. Antarctica. Right here on the Eastern Shore.
This August, the City of Clarence and Beaker Street Festival are teaming up to transform Bellerive Quay into an icy outpost of adventure with Hobartica East – a highlight of Australia’s biggest National Science Week celebration for adults.
Step into the Macca Dome, a giant geodesic dome inspired by research bases on Macquarie Island and be surrounded by breathtaking Antarctic imagery from filmmaker and scientist Dr Frederique Olivier.
Hobartica East runs from 14–17 August 2025 and connects with the Hobartica domes across the river with a special free Beaker Street ferry service.
Clarence is also hosting three other science-fuelled events:
- Mushroom Workshops at Tunnel Hill
- Taste of Country at Risdon Cove
- Dark Sky Dinner at Frogmore Creek, Richmond
